OneVoice is proud to be a member organization of the Alliance for Middle East Peace (ALLMEP) - a coalition of non-governmental organizations working to build a genuine and sustained peace in the Midde East through people-to-people programs promoting mutual respect, cooperation, and understanding between Jews and Palestinians, Israelis and Arabs. We wanted to share with you the following update, which details the activities and accomplishments of ALLMEP's members throughout the particularly difficult events of this past summer. We hope that you find inspiration, hope, and courage in the ongoing efforts of individuals and organizations to effect a positive change in the region.
Amidst conflict, ALLMEP has continued its support of coexistence activities in the region. By clicking on the link below, you can read about some inspiring highlights of what ALLMEP member organizations did this summer to further their shared commitment to a peaceful resolution in the Middle East.
An intensive 17-day campaign featuring a “Caravan of Democracy” was launched on December 23rd in Ramallah to call on Palestinian citizens to participate in the upcoming elections, under the banner “Make Your Voice Count.” A procession of cars and vans with OneVoice signs and loudspeakers emitting music and volunteers distributing balloons and pamphlets to thousands culminated with a folkloric dance in the city center.
A similar march followed in Bethlehem on December 24th, culminating in the Nativity Church Square, where volunteers released hundreds of balloons and doves from the municipality’s rooftop.
This first-ever Palestinian pro-vote campaign was organized by 6 full-time members of the OneVoice-Palestine staff and 123 volunteers. New volunteers overwhelmed the OneVoice-Palestine office to offer to organize similar events throughout the West Bank and Gaza. Additional deployments are planned, though limited by financial resource constraints.
