Professor Yehuda Shenhav, Ami Ayalon and Danny Sheket debate the two-state solution
Tel Aviv, May 30, 2010—OneVoice Israel (OVI) joined Yad v’Yad (Hand in Hand) in hosting a town hall meeting in Tel Aviv to debate the two-state solution and the one-state illusion.
25 Palestinians attended the meeting which was led by Professor Yehuda Shenhav of Tel Aviv University and former MK, Admiral and head of Shin-Bet, Ami Ayalon.

On Sunday, the day before the Flotilla incident, things seemed so optimistic. I attended an event sponsored by OneVoice in which Professor Shenhav and Admiral Ami Ayalon spoke about the one-state versus two-state solution.
Shenhav is a proponent for the one-state solution. He claimed that a two-state solution is not applicable because thus far attempts to reach such an agreement have failed. To that, Ayalon, a former navigator in the navy replied: “if a captain doesn’t know where his ship is headed, no wind in the world will take it there,” meaning that prior peace agreements such as the Oslo Accords were not successful because they did not address the most difficult issues and did not attempt to end the conflict. As the speakers raised many important points emotions ran high making me wary of the impending group discussions.
My worries turned out to be unfounded, and the group I moderated remained calm listening to one another despite disagreements.
Respect for one another’s opinion is vital if we are going to reach a place where we can debate these integral issues. I was proud to have taken part in this event.
I would like to see two states.the jews and arabs are semites and should treat each other as brothers. I do not believe the jews to be the chosen of God we are all equal,The jews are treating the palestinians like the jews were treated in the ghettos of poland.My heart goes out to the palestinians,
