Hundreds of students in California came to listen to and probe OneVoice Israeli and Palestinian Youth Ambassadors. Flown in carrying strong nationalistic credentials, the Israeli and Palestinian speakers conveyed a reality-check that exposed extremist groups as out of kilter with the communities on the ground, which crave a future of co-existence. Students at UCLA, USC, UCSD, Berkeley, Stanford, and San Francisco State (with the World Affairs Council) pledged to get involved. Dozens of student organizations joined forces in rare alliances to make this happen.
Actor Jason Alexander, Palestinian film director Hanna Elias and Professor Judea Pearl (father of murdered WSJ correspondent Daniel Pearl) helped launch this campus campaign, which will take OV activists to 50 campuses worldwide with a message of cooperation rather than polarization and investment rather than divestment. In November, OV Youth Ambassadors will visit campuses across both Canada and the UK.
